Fashion Tales: Final Recap From MBFWAThe Edit / What I Wore / Where I Went - Fashion Events categories: The Edit What I Wore Where I Went - Fashion Events
I’ve returned from Western Australia and finally had a chance to sit down and write about my final day at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA).
Where has the time gone?
Of course, WA was an amazing experience and I came back engaged to the LOVE of my life. After a whirlwind adventure of excitement, we then went to Bali to celebrate our friends wedding, so it has been pretty non-stop recently!
Now as promised, it is time to flashback to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Between outfit changes, creative shows, media interviews and of course, parties… it was a HUGE week for me in Sydney before my travels!
It certainly was a pretty surreal experience being able to watch the latest fashions stroll down the runway. Beyond that, the guests were dressed so well and there were plenty of inspiring outfit combinations which had me saying ‘Ooooft I must try that at home’.
Scroll below for what I wore and some of my final highlights from the runway (sorry it’s a little late, but better late than never right?).
HIGHLIGHT RECAP #1 STANZEE
I was beyond proud of my incredible friend for having her brand Stanzee front and centre at MBFWA. As it was her first year at MBFWA, I was blown away by the turnout and the spectacular show she put on.
For the special occasion I wore a bell sleeve dress. It was figure hugging and had a delicate monochrome pattern throughout. I had worn fairly dark colours to each show so it was nice to have an injection of light with the white background.
HIGHLIGHT RECAP #2 BEC & BRIDGE
Fast-forward a few hours and we were at an offsite location, David Jones for Bec & Bridge show. It felt as if we had just entered into full-on holiday mode. I went for something bright and bold with my ensemble but made sure I worked in some feminine flare. The cut outs and thigh-high split made it quite a contrast from the more conservative suits I had been coveting on Monday. I decided upon these star earrings from Pierre Winter Fine Jewels so I could have some extra fun (I mean why not?!). I finished off the outfit with my black strappy Stuart Weitzman heels. I turned up the hair volume with my loose blonde curls.
On the catwalk, one of my favourite trends was the feminine ruffles which accentuated a lot of the pieces. There were bright electric colours and plenty of off-the-shoulder and strapless numbers.
Polk-a-dot and cheeky hemlines were a big thing too!
HIGHLIGHT RECAP #3 GINGER & SMART
The Ginger & Smart show was at the Art Gallery of NSW. The creativity behind this show was faultless. These girls sure do know how to put on a performance. Jaws dropped and eyes marvelled at the creations unfolding.
Outfit wise, it was back into the pants and a top for me Ginger & Smart.
As I think back (and finally) wrap up my fashion week involvement, I’ve been inspired to commit to buying some serious investment pieces and spending that extra 5 minutes planning outfits which rock everyday! After seeing so many great combos I’m determined to workshop a few of them and feeling inspired to be stand out fashion-wise.
There were so many breath taking fashion moments among the models, bloggers, influencers, brand loyalists and designers themselves. Of course, I did spot some pitfalls in the fashion department but we all have bad dressing days!
There was a daring and spirited theme present in a lot of the styles out there. Funnily enough, seeing a few of those ‘must-have’ items on the runway also reminded me of some of my own uncovered hidden treasures in my wardrobe which I need to bring to life again. MBFWA reminded me it isn’t always about buying new pieces, sometimes it is just about reusing treasured pieces in the wardrobe in new ways.
