Spring/Summer here we come baby!I Love / The Edit / Where I Went - Fashion Events categories: I Love The Edit Where I Went - Fashion Events
August is a very exciting time of the year with both the annual David Jones and Myer Spring/Summer shows on the agenda. Australia’s retail giants put on show stopping events in the last week and I was lucky enough to attend both of these stellar performances.
Fashionistas, celebs and socialites put on their statement frocks to welcome in the ranges for next season There is always a rich sense of suspense and anticipation as Australia’s best designers unravel what we can expect to see flooding into the stores in the coming warmer months.
The David Jones Spring Summer show was held last week on Wednesday night. The guest list consisted of 330 important guests including Teresa Palmer, Montana Cox, Neil Perry, Karl Stefanovic and Lisa Wilkinson.
The usual catwalk format was turned around as we were treated to a sit down dinner on level seven ahead of the catwalk show.
Taking centre stage, the stunning model line-up included David Jones ambassadors Jessica Gomes and Jesinta Franklin, alongside Bridget Malcolm and Shanina Shaik.
Some of my fav designers shared jaw dropping styles, prints and including Bec & Bridge, Zimmermann, Macgraw, Rebecca Vallance, Self Portrait, Camilla & Marc, KitX, Ellery, Bianca Spender, Dion Lee and Ginger and Smart.
Amazing six packs sizzled down the catwalk and the glamorous models made our jaws drop.
I went for a sophisticated look styling a Bec & Bridge number with my Tony Bianco heels. I had my own personalised bag from The Daily Edited to finish off my outfit.
Myer’s Spring/Summer fashion collection launch was held in a waterfront mansion in South Coogee today.
VIP guests included Myer ambassadors Jen Hawkins, Kris Smith, Rachael Finch and Jodi Anasta.
Amongst the designs and upcoming styles, we saw bold colours and vibrant prints. There was an ode to the 80s present in a lot of the designs too.
On the catwalks there was something for everyone from leirsurewear, activewear and cheeky swimwear. In terms of length, there is a great mix of minis, midi dresses and skirts and maxi-dresses.
The statement shoulder has not left our sights either with lots of off-the-shoulder and one-shoulder pieces.
After witnessing the styles and designs, I want one (maybe two) of everything!
I’m exerting restraint and not buying up the whole collection, instead I’ll be embracing a few key looks. It is important to realise there is no need to completely reinvent your wardrobe, freshening things up can be just as fun!
A big part of my outfit for Myer was oversized earrings. My show-stopping ear jewels were in the same navy hue as my frock which tied the look together nicely. I’m always picking earrings which have a WOW factor. Check out Pierre Winter fine jewels if you are wanting to treat yourself to something glitzy which will turn heads too.
Midi hems were everywhere!! Often I hear girls saying they don’t like the ‘awkward length’ but I don’t think this needs to be a concern if you know how to pick the right pieces. I’m all about the midi length because it can be flattering if you know the tricks to getting the proportions right.
Wanting to show off a little more leg? The thigh high split can be the perfect ingredient to add some extra sexiness too.
Florals and bold colours
In Spring and Summer, Mother Nature kindly turns on the perfect weather for us so of course it is only right to celebrate by wearing fun colours, striking prints and groovy patterns.
Wondering which colours to pick? There is no doubt that red and pink are the new season colours. Throw in a bit of blue and white stripe, you have yourself sorted. I’m excited to jump into some tropical prints and sip a cool drink on a balmy evening that is for sure.
I was loving the floral prints which were EVERYWHERE!
