A FASHION WORKSHOP, THE RACES & A CARNIVAL BALL – BRISBANE HAD IT ALL!

What a week it’s been! After both a very busy and very exciting #MBFWA, I took my deep appreciation of all things high-fash to Brisbane, where I hosted a Fashion on the Field workshop with Channel Seven’s Brisbane Racing Carnival Ambassador, Liz Cantor, at Indooroopilly Shopping Centre. With yummy canapés served to guests (and the champagne a-flowing), Liz and I presented our favourite Winter racing trends for the weekend’s dress code “fashion forward” (my suggestions included a Camilla kaftan or a Carla Zampatti jumpsuit). Other trends included metallic for Doomben 10,000 Day (I love the idea of playing up golds/silvers in your accessories), feminine florals for Oaks Day and monochrome (with a touch of red) for Stradbroke Day.
Then, I took some of my own advice as I head down to Doomben Racecourse for Doomben Cup Day where I played host of Indooroopilly Centre’s Fashion on the Field (and to say it was a big day, is a total understatement!) Keeping in mind that the dress code was “fashion forward” I felt my Manning Cartel dress really pushed the boundaries – check out my headpiece below (courtesy of AllPort Millinery!) The birdcage was a lot of fun – I got to mingle with a few Sydneysiders such as Erin Holland and Olympians Emily Seebohm and Brittney Elmslie. After a few champers, I had to judge a every tough Fashions on the Field where the most daring girl won, literally (she wore a Ralph Lauren genie inspied look).
After an interview with Liz for Channel 7, I rushed back to the hotel for hair and makeup (thank you Penny) for the #SevenSins Carnival Ball. A new addition to the Carnival line-up, I chose to wear a sleek Carla Zampatti frock at the luxe trackside event. An incredible dinner with equally as incredible company, I couldn’t believe how stunning the Eagle Farm racecourse was (keep in mind this is due to open in the last two race days in Brisbane). It truly was the perfect backdrop for the magical night and I’m so glad I got to round-out an awesome weekend with an even more awesome occasion.
It has been an absolute honour and pleasure to work with Indooroopilly Shopping Centre and the Brisbane Racing Club.
