THE EDIT – #MBFWAFashion & Beauty / Where I Went - Fashion Events categories: Fashion & Beauty Where I Went - Fashion Events
Mercedes Benz Fashion Week has officially kicked off, and what better way to dive deep into the high-fash pool than with fifty shades of Maticevski and a new-look resort wear collection plentiful of two-piece suits, sexy cut-outs and crystal handcuffs. Moving away from the romanticism of last season, Maticevski’s magical MBFWA was absolute perfection with Baroque brocade, exposed zips and skintight leather, accentuated brilliantly by sparkling chokers handcrafted by jewellery designer, Ryan Storer.
Following the perfect kick-off, today I’m off to Misha Collection where the ever-ethereal (yet equally strong, Bella Hadid) will walk the runway (I think she’s the perfect embodiment of sartorial elegance). I absolutely love the brand which possesses a sensual individuality, a willingness to dare and an expression of understated sophistication… which most probably will end up in my wardrobe after the show.
Bec & Bridge
Bec & Bridge is another Australian brand I’ve bought from the start (and love to wear!) Designers Becky Cooper and Bridget Yorston gave Elle magazine a sneak peek of their range over the weekend, saying that the Diwali festival in India was the “catalyst for the collection”. Describing the line as “modern Indian meets A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, I can’t wait for some bold colours and shapes, inspired by the ancient “festival of the lights”.
Similarly, Manning Cartell has found a special place in my heart (and my closet). For me, the label embodies both strength and utility beautifully, which in turn creates the perfect balance. Innovative textures, colours and prints valued highly by founders Cheryl, Vanessa and Gabrielle Manning, will hopefully be front and centre of the show – and I can’t wait!
After a five-year hiatus, Daniel Avakian will be bringing his modern, structured aesthetic back to the MBFWA runway. Speaking to the Collective Hub, Daniel’s upcoming collection is an “irreverent interpretation of American sports versus clean lines”. Specifically mentioning an “overall boxier silhouette”, I’m looking forward to an understated sports luxe line full of lavish pieces to fill my (online) shopping cart and drain my bank account.
I’m beyond euphoric to see what all labels have in store for us this year, and I’m really looking forward to each and every show I’ll be attending including: Ginger & Smart, Yeojin Bae, Rebecca Vallance, AJE, By Johnny and C/Meo. Stay tuned for exclusive street-style pics and top choices from the runway here!
