The countdown is on until the thermostat rises, our hair gets lighter and the days feel longer (25 days to be precise). On Wednesday the David Jones spring/summer launch showcased the latest swimwear and summer items. The night was held at Fox Studios and among the excited crowd were an array of VIPs, celebrities, designers and media personnel.
The gorgeous David Jones ambassadors Jesintia Campbell and Jessica Gomes provided a stern reminder of what an disciplined summer body can look like. Gemma Ward also looked incredible walking in the parade at 14 weeks’ pregnant (surely the bub will be very experienced on the catwalk when it is born!).

Metallics shimmered and sparkled throughout the show and I am thrilled for this trend to stick around. To avoid being mistaken for a disco-dress up-gone-wrong, work metallics in with neutrals. Gold and copper usually suit creams, blush pinks and shades of grey. Silver on the other hand sits well on top of blacks, greys and whites. Keep the rest of the look fairly paired down so you do not look like the tin-man! If you dress the metallic piece as the focal point, you will find they work in with the majority of your wardrobe. However, a metallic phone case with silver supergas is totally an exception to the ‘paired back’ rule!
Flowy jumpsuits are going to be everywhere for spring/summer. I am having a love affair with these billowy fabrics which ooze femininity. The cut creates a dramatic yet sophisticated statement which is just perfect for special occasions, nights out or a fancy dinner. If a dress is more your style, Manning Cartell did not disappoint this season. Keep your shoes simple when wearing billowy shapes.
Bring out your inner hippie and think khaki, rust, camel and forest green. I am dying to buy this Nicholas dress with the interplay of cable, braided and lattice knit. Flares and bell sleeves will take you right into the warmer months. At only $109, The Fifth Label’s relaxed shift dress flaunts flared sleeves. A perfect Friday work dress to wear during the day to be on standby for whatever fun the night brings. Of course, I am a sucker for sales and this Jimmy Choo is reduced to under $1000 and these sunglasses are half price. Check them out!
My Bec and Bridge dress is not in stores yet but I will update you when it is. I was also adorned in the most eye-catching Pierre Winter fine jewels. If you want to recreate a similar look (waiting for pay-day-to-arrive budget) you can :
With the David Jones show wrapped up, all I can say is bring on spring and summer baby!
