The one beauty trick I can’t live withoutAsk Anna / Beauty / The Edit categories: Ask Anna Beauty The Edit
My ‘Ask Anna’ inbox has been over flowing with questions about my makeup routine. I have to say I’m all about getting my A+ game together quickly when I’m rushing out to work or going in between media commitments. On the weekends I tend to have more time but I really don’t spend hours in the bathroom getting ready. Over the years I have come to rely on a few quick tricks to get me through.
I’m a sucker for eyelash extensions and have been getting them since I was 18. I can’t really remember life without them but they make such a difference in shortening my makeup regime. The eyelash extension craze seemed to blow up a few years ago and I have never looked back since jumping on the bandwagon.
While some critics say they weaken your natural lashes, I have found them to be fantastic for me. If you get them, be ready to bask in the incoming compliments. A note of caution: you do need to be willing to regularly maintain lashes and they can tend to look a bit manky if you leave your next appointment for too long. If you’re not into the regular salon appointments and the occasional lost lash, one of my other tips may be more up your alley.
I do love a summer glow but I don’t roast myself to get one. I am a big proponent of being sun safe at the beach and even when I am exercising. I’ll go for a weightless SPF product so that it doesn’t make me feel sticky if I am getting a little sweaty. I’m a big fan of the Clarins Sunscreen Care Spray. This Lightweight spray offers high protection and is water and perspiration resistant.
There is some merit to the saying that hair is a woman’s crowning glory. I’d have to agree with this because it is a pretty bad feeling when you know you have an absolute grease ball of hair. I love visiting the hairdresser and getting blowdrys but when I am rushing around to media appointments, dry shampoo is a truly celebrated beauty trick for me.
My #1 eye tip would be to apply eye makeup first before putting on foundation so that you don’t have lots of dribs and drabs floating on top of your foundation. When it comes to my makeup, I find brushes allow for a quick a clean finish.
For my nails, I have recently switched to SNS powder. If I am at the salon, or doing my nails myself instead, my go-to colour would be a nude because I feel it gives you a lot more outfit choice (without awkward colour clashes).
Now it sounds super weird but one more quick trick I use is exfoliating my lips (hang on here… I’ll explain!). It gets rid of the scaly bits and leaves your lips ready to absorb the lip colour better.
If you give a few of these tips a go, you might be able to go from sunrise to sunset without a whole lot of time being wasted down the drain for your beauty regime.
