HOW I SPRING CLEAN IN 3 STEPSAsk Anna / I Love / The Edit categories: Ask Anna I Love The Edit
Do you walk into your wardrobe and spend minutes searching for something to wear? Does the search end in frustration and an explosive flordrobe below your feet?
The solution is pretty simple, you need a spring clean. Note: you have to be harsh and decisive. If you do not NEED something, donate it to charity or put it in a maybe pile which you can rethink about in a month or so. If you have not worn the item after it has been in the ‘maybe’ pile, it is time to let the piece of clothing go.
Why do I have such rules in place? If I didn’t, my wardrobe would be overflowing into the streets of Bondi. Yes, I actually do have a spare second bedroom which is dedicated to housing my fav pieces, but I am pretty good these days at only hanging onto the pieces which I actually wear. I often find thinking about who else could get use out of my clothes is a great way to part with those pieces which you try to convince yourself “could come in handy one day”.
So now that you have less pieces in your wardrobe, still staring into that blank space and seeing “NOTHING TO WEAR”? That frustrating feeling might mean that you need to incorporate a few new season trends into your wardrobe so you can make some outfits work and rework a few items you already have. Unless you win lotto or have a very generous shopping allowance, a few key pieces should give you enough to work your wardrobe this Spring.
Minimal dressing is the easiest solution to freeing yourself from the fuss and flurry of trying to piece together outfits. Injecting some spice into your wardrobe is as easy of selecting a few elevated basics in the monochromic black, white or grey. Heading back to basics isn’t hard when sneakers are so big this season. You can pair this outfit below with heels or sneakers making it extra versatile.
Minimal is always a big thing for me because it is easy to pull together. However, I would define my ‘dressed up’ style as pretty bright and feminine so I usually opt for everyday basics and jazz things up when I have a special event on. If you have enough of the minimalistic pieces, have some fun experimenting with the blush pink colours of the season. Inject some funky spring vibes into your wardrobe with some of my top-picks below.
