My beach essentialsI Love / The Edit categories: I Love The Edit
We’ve had a great weekend with some bouts of sunshine in Sydney, hence it must be just about time to prep some beach essentials.
Whether you’ve planned a summer vacation or just heading out on a day trip to your local beach hang – these new season beach essentials are a must in my books.
So the bikini is obviously the most important piece! Once you’ve bought yourself a new bikini (or two) – what other beach essentials might you need?
I’ve rounded up the best accessories to keep you protected from the sun, surf and sand.
Having the right goodies (and the right bag to store them in) can maximise your fun in the sun. A decent sized beach tote is a must for carrying all my beach essentials. Picking a bag which is made from the right material is important as you want something that wont get ruined by the sand, sun and possibly wet swimmers/towel combo. A super durable and well-sized bag is a must. This season is all about these quirky woven straw bags…. I also find it is helpful to have something smaller, like a clutch on hand. I’ll use a smaller option if I need to take too much to the poolside or if I’m doing a few errands before heading down to the beach.
I love beach attire such as this kaftan, you can wear it to pool gatherings and summer soirées. A few key pieces make it easy to dress up with some snazzy sandals if you want to head for a spot of lunch. You may even like to include some bright jewelry to make the move from the beach to cocktail hour. Sunglasses are a non-negotiable for me – no matter if the weather is rain, hail or sunshine.
Avoid the nightmare search for your towels as you come out of the water and get one that will stand out. The best thing about a new towel – well nothing beats that super fluffy feeling! I like something cool and couldn’t go past these from Country Road.
What goes in my bag? Sun protection is a cardinal rule – I’ll wear a good hat and always bring some SPF with me. I’m a fan of tinted moisturiser so that my skin is protected but not left overly oily.
Mineral water spray was a must in Europe. A little spray keeps me feeling cool and instantly refreshed after being out in the sun. A fresh spray to the face and neck is the perfect segue between chapters of your favourite book.
Another one of my beach beauty secrets is fake tan and eyelash extensions! I also love to bring leave in conditioner (Pantene is 11/10!). As a fake tanner, there is a delicate ritual for the beach to ensure my skin doesn’t dry out. One of the important tricks of the trade is some after sun-moisturiser to keep my skin feeling supple.
