Weekend dress ups in SpringI Love / The Edit / What I Wore categories: I Love The Edit What I Wore
Spring has sprung baby! My weekends are pretty full on with birthday celebrations, work functions, family catch-ups, media engagements and of course, romantic dates with Tim in between. Dressing for all these social commitments means that good outfits are a must. I’ll always try and style something that has a little ‘wow’ factor involved.
So how do I factor in some ‘wow’? Sophisticated tailoring is a must. I always opt for pieces which have an emphasis on quality fabrics and femininity. I’ve found some new wardrobe favourites from Karen Millen to cover off Friday, Saturday and Sunday ensembles this weekend.
Tops are often synonymous with boring white cotton blends in a standard shirt cut, yeah? For me, the old white shirt is often reserved for those tough dressing days where there isn’t a lot left in the clean pile. How times have changed!
Karen Millen has introduced a spring collection of innovative cuts, fresh colours and forward thinking shirt designs. I’m in love with this off-the-shoulder number. The fluted sleeves are ready for weekend frivolity.
This top will become part of my go-to ensemble for a polished and casual look this spring. You can wear this monochrome ensemble for nights out with the gals. Pair it with your best denim and you’ve got yourself a winning look without missing a beat. If you want to wear this in your everyday look, style it down or up with some casual sandals or sneakers.
Fresh pastels are not reserved only for pretty tea parties. This gorgeous green is stunning for spring weddings and fancy lunches. When the spring racing carnival pops up, it can be good to have a few dressing options on back-up for the special event. Stylish dresses like this one do the job perfectly as a go-to piece.
If I’m not buying nude or black shoes, I still opt for something pretty neutral. Say hello to my new besties, these baby pink heels. For looong days at the races and extended lunches the block heel can become your new best friend too. The choice between leather and non-leather can often come down to cost but you’ll get far more durability from a good leather pair like these.
Pastel pink and floral lovers will appreciate that I also included the pink floral theme into my bag game too.
The A-line shape has been around for years but it has certainly become a popular street style of late. This perfect pastel is uber flattering and check out the cute hidden pleat design in the front of the dress.
Thinking of ways to add some more runway style, co-ordinate in some metallic heels or a headpiece for the races (hello hottie!!).
While a gorgeous dress seems a no brainer for a fancy springtime Sunday soiree, a good dress which will last the mile can be harder to find than you’d think.
When the dress code demands something elegant and classy, freshen up the look with this baby. I couldn’t go past this monochrome asymmetric dress to fit the “classic and understated” brief.
I love how the wrap hugs me in at the waist, wear it to to accentuate your feminine silhouette.
Freshen up a classy look with some subtle ruffles with these ultra feminine shoes. Escalate the feminine feel with these babies which will be the best accompaniment for that statement occasion.
If you want to get some extra wear out of the dress, mash up the look and add in some colour-popping accessories. Use the colours of the season with hot pinks, corals and nautical blue to take the look one step further. Lunch at Chiswick anyone?
I had a great time teaming up with Karen Millen to inject some girly love into my looks. Hope you love these styles as much as I do.
